I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while. I love signs of all kinds. I love how useful they can be, how un-useful they can be, how passive-aggressive they can be, I even love how it seems like most people can be standing right in front of a 20-foot tall flashing neon orange sign and somehow manage to avoid noticing or reading it. Sometimes it seems like, without signs, the world would just be a chaotic, stumbling mass of 7 billion people nonchalantly walking over 500-foot cliffs, not watching for falling rocks, parking next to fire hydrants, loitering in random places, and trying to find gate B17. Few things keep society as we know it from unraveling before our eyes quite as effectively as signs, save for drive-through latte shops and the ever-expanding network of 4G (is it 5G now?) cell phone towers.
It follows then that I like taking pictures of signs. After sifting through my collection, I’ve included a couple dozen of my favorites here, a sampling of the strangest, funniest, and most unique. I hope you enjoy them; after all, it’s a nice break from all of the political campaign signs that undoubtedly determined who you voted for this election season. As usual, I have included SARCASTIC commentary where I felt it was appropriate; please note that I DO NOT support the harassment of salmon or any other kind of aquatic life. You can press pause to scroll through the signs at your own pace.
